Spring is here! Time to plant!

Saturday marked the first day of spring, and what better way to celebrate than to get outside and get your hands dirty in the garden? That is exactly what we did this weekend! Sure, we pulled some weeds, mowed the lawn, moved some dirt around, and a number of other chores just to get the yard looking nice again after neglecting it all winter, but we got some fun in as well!

Our veggies didn't fare so well last year in our two existing garden beds due to their lack of full day sunshine. I though they might be able to hang, but no. So, this year, we planted veggies that only need partial sun like broccoli, kale, and garlic. We also added an additional garden bed where it should get full sun. We decided to stick with mostly herbs this year, so we planted oregeno, romemary, lemon thyme, chives, and jalepeño to keep things spicy.

We also planted dill, garden sage, and sweet basil in pots which we added to our growing collection of indoor plants. My little sis-in-law and her husband asked us to plant-sit for a while since they are moving temporarily to a place where there isn't really a great space to keep them. The result is a botanical book nest with an enough of reading and oxygen to keep my brain stimulated. I may need to invest in a comfy reading chair... or reading hammock perhaps?
